"We are slowed down sound and light waves, a walking bundle of frequencies tuned into the cosmos"
-Albert Einstein

My name is Amy Marie, and I create sanctuary-style experiences designed to support deep rest and nervous system regulation. Based in Iowa, I offer Sound Journeys in Des Moines and surrounding areas, inviting people to slow down, soften, and return to themselves. In a fast-paced, overstimulated world, many of us live in a constant state of doing. These experiences are an invitation to step out of autopilot and into presence, where the body can settle, the mind can quiet, and the nervous system can feel safe enough to rest. Through sound, breath, and gentle guidance, I hold spaces rooted in safety, softness, and spaciousness. This is an invitation to pause, listen, and gently reconnect with yourself. It it an honor to hold these spaces, and I look forward to welcoming you.

"If you want to understand the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."
- Nikola Tesla

Sound works gently and directly with the nervous system. Through vibration, rhythm, and resonance, it can support the body in shifting out of stress and into a more settled, restorative state. Many people experience sound baths as deeply calming and grounding. While each experience is unique, common benefits may include a greater sense of ease in the body, reduced stress, improved sleep, and a deeper connection to the present moment. Sound can support the parasympathetic nervous system, helping the body remember how to rest, repair, and self regulate. These experiences create space for the body to return to balance in its own time, offering a calm and supportive environment where it can slow down and rest.

Frequently asked questions

A Sound Bath is a deeply immersive and meditative experience that uses sound to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve overall wellbeing. During a sound bath, participants lay down in a comfortable position on a yoga mat or blanket while a facilitator plays various instruments such as crystal quartz bowls, gongs, chimes, and other instruments. The sounds from these instruments create a sense of harmony and alignment in the body, mind, and spirit.

When you attend my sound bath, you can expect a one hour long unique and transformative experience. I will typically begin the session by guiding you through a short guided meditation to help you relax and ground yourself. Then, I will begin to play the instruments, creating a soundscape that is both immersive and therapeutic.

During the sound bath, you may feel a variety of sensations, including vibrations in your body, seeing vivid colors, a sense of floating, or even the release of emotions or memories, you may get so relaxed that you get tired and fall asleep. These experiences are all part of the healing process and are completely normal.

You can bring anything you would feel comfortable laying on. This could be a yoga mat, or a blanket and pillow.

Your sound bath attendance will depend on your personal goals and preferences. Some people may find that attending a sound bath once a month is enough to promote relaxation and reduce stress. Others may choose to attend more frequently, such as two or three times a month.

If you are dealing with a particular issue or challenge, such as chronic pain or anxiety, you may benefit from attending sound baths more frequently. Some people find that attending weekly or bi-weekly sessions can provide ongoing relief and support for their healing journey.
